Brownie Bites From Cleveland Browns 27-0 Victory Over Arizona

Take the points!

After failing to convert a fourth down earlier in the first half, Kevin Stefanski decided to “Take The Points” by allowing Dustin Hopkins to nail a 30 yard chip shot field goal to get Cleveland on the board.  This gave the Browns the lead 3-0 with 14 minutes left in the first half.

Points off turnovers.

The Browns converted turnovers into points after a Denzel Ward interception gave the Browns the ball back at midfield, halfway through the second quarter.  Cleveland put together a 11 play 49 yard touchdown drive to follow with Kareem Hunt doing the bulk of the work until the Watson touchdown pass to Amari Cooper.

They would do it again later in the game when the offense was completely stagnant.  They turned a strip sack into points when Watson connected with David Njoku for a 5 yard touchdown pass to increase their lead to 20-0 at the time, with 8:09 left to play in the third quarter.

Luck is good!

Every now and then, being lucky can be game changing.  Last week, a tipped ball went against Cleveland, this week, a tipped ball led to a Watson touchdown pass to Amari Cooper to extend the Browns lead to 10-0 with 6:52 left to play in the second quarter.

Watson and Cooper can be dangerous together.

Deshaun Watson looked strong today on the long ball to Cooper numerous times.  He still has some rust to knock off on the short yardage touch work, but his arm appeared to be very strong downfield.  Cooper and himself hooked up 5 times for 139 yards and a touchdown.  They average 28 yards per connection and had a game high 59 yard hook up.

Defense!

The defense shutout and shut down the Arizona offense to the tune of 27-0.  Speaking of Tune, Clayton Tune will want to forget his first NFL start quickly, as the rookie was picked off twice and only went 11 of 20 for 58 yards.

Win at home!

The Browns are now 4-1 at home this year with their sole loss coming versus Baltimore when they learned they wouldn’t have a starting quarterback only hours before kickoff. The win pushes their record to 5-3 on the season and keeps them in the hunt for the AFC North crown, despite currently being tied with Pittsburgh, and if Cincinnati wins later today for second place / last place behind red hot 7-2 Baltimore.
