Brookside Defeats Oberlin on Senior Night

It was an emotional and thrilling win for Brookside on senior night as they defeated Oberlin 40-38.  It was a night to honor Brookside seniors Brianna DeLeon Pauline Schmidt .  The Cardinals have a nice mix of youth and also veteran leadership as they start one Senior, two Juniors and two Sophomores. They beat Oberlin by 5pts in their earlier match up this season as well.

Bella Diaz their sophomore PG is their leading scorer and Brianna Slaughter is their leading perimeter shooter and is among the leaders in the conference with made 3 pointers.

It was Markie Aliff with 17 points who led all scorers as a freshman.  In the end, she stole the ball with 11 seconds left in the game to drive to the basket and make the winning layup. Oberlin couldn’t advance the ball as time expired. Octavia Gonzales another Freshmen played some valuable minutes in the win as well.

Oberlin was lead by Deatrice Barnes with 13 while Clara McCown had 7 and Desiree Randleman with 6.

As mentioned, the Cardinals leading scorer was Markie Aliff with 17 while Bella Diaz finished with 7 and Octabia Gonzalez with 6.  Avery Davis and BriAnna Slaughter each had 3.
