Friday afternoon seemed like a death blow to the hopes of High School Fall Sports as several reporters rushed to post stories of school districts and counties shutting down their programs until October. However, a little over 72 hours later, a lot has changed.
As many of you know, High School Sports programs were supposed to begin practice on August 1rst for all sports. Many feared that would be pulled any moment, but signs have now popped up that we have hope after all.
Just moments ago, the OHSAA released this tweet
Practice will begin under the new guidelines, as it appears for now, all involved seem ready to give it a go.
Also, just happening within the last few minutes was this this tweet from Thomas Wilson of the Lancaster Eagle Gazette.
“BREAKING NEWS: In a letter released this evening, the Fairfield Department of Health has revised their previous statement of no in-person school and no sports, and now recommending all Fairfield County School districts follow guidelines from Ohio Department of Health.”
This is big because it was only Friday afternoon that they shutdown in person school and sports. Maybe it is false hope, maybe the ever going game of pass the buck between the decision makers continues. Time will tell…..
