Dear North Olmsted Families,
Last week the Cuyahoga County Board of Health released recommendations for school districts across the entire county. This guidance recommended that all extra-curricular activities and sports be discontinued. As a precaution we immediately suspended all extra-curricular activities and sports while we evaluated these guidelines and the safety of our students.
After further evaluation of the recommendations and the return to play guidelines, the district will permit athletics and band to resume activity effective Wednesday, August 5th. We will continue to be extremely cautious and continue to focus on student and staff safety. The return to play guidelines for our fall athletic teams and band members will be as follows:
Phase 1 for the following contact sports/activities: band, cheerleading, cross country, Eaglet flag, Eaglet kickline, football, boys soccer, girls soccer, and volleyball
- Limited members at each workout
Phase 3 for the following non-contact sports: golf and tennis
- Practice will resume
- Competition with area schools will proceed as scheduled
- District transportation will be provided
- Parents will have the option to drive athletes to all events
Please remember that athletes are still required to wear masks when they are not participating in physical activity. The district will continue all safety protocols including:
- Temperature checks for all coaches and students.
- Social distancing
- Workouts in small groups of less than 10 people.
- No use of locker rooms or shower facilities.
- Hand sanitizer stations in all facilities and workout spaces.
- Increased hand washing and limited use of high touch surfaces.
- Equipment cleaned after each use and prior to the next workout.
- No water fountains – students are bringing their own water bottles.
- No sharing of towels, clothing, shoes, or water bottles.
Thank you for your patience and please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.
Sincerely,
Mike Ptacek
Athletic Director
If you read the letter you see volleyball is not moving forward in that city, they are considered contact with football and soccer.
