Boston Bruins End Blue Jackets Seven Game Win Streak

The Columbus Blue Jackets took on the Boston Bruins on Thursday night, and their seven-game win streak ended. The Jackets left TD Garden with a 4-2 loss when they returned to the ice after the Olympic break. This now puts Columbus fourth in the wild-card standings for the playoffs and fifth in the Metropolitan Division.

Columbus opened the first period with a snapshot goal from Kirill Marchenko at 4:32 with help from Mason Marchment and Adam Fantilli. The Jackets were looking strong throughout the first frame, holding off on a two-minute power-play awarded to Kiril Marchenko for hooking. Boston tied the game at 15:51 before earning their own penalty for holding Boone Jenner at 17:51.

Miles Wood served a goalkeeper interference penalty at 6:13 in the middle frame, and Boston was able to capitalize on the advantage, scoring at 6:54. The final period was close and full of action as the Jackets tried to come back with a win. Mason Marchment served a slashing penalty at 8:31 before Boston scored their third goal of the night at 11:15. Columbus was quick to counter when Adam Fantilli scored at 13:45 with an assist from Mason Marchment and Zach Werenski. Boston secured the last goal at 19:27 before the final horn. Elvis Merzlikins was in the net for Columbus on Thursday night and saved 19 of the 23 shots on goal.

The Blue Jackets will be back at Nationwide Arena on Saturday, February 28, at 6 p.m. ET. The game can be viewed on FanDuel Sports Network Ohio, ESPN+, or NHL Center Ice. Columbus is hoping to bounce back from their loss on Thursday and work their way back up the wild-card ladder to secure a spot in the playoffs.
