2nd Half
Northwestern began the second half with the ball and drove down the field into the red zone. On a 3rd and 8 from the OSU nine-yard line, Ramsey floated a ball to the left corner of the end zone. Justin Hilliard read the flight of the ball well and snagged it. The interception was not capitalized on though because Fields threw an interception three plays later.
Ohio State and Northwestern both missed field goals before the Ohio State offense started rolling.
The Buckeyes went almost strictly to the ground as Sermon and Miyan Williams marched down the field. Sermon reclaimed the lead for Ohio State with a 9-yard TD run. That was the first lead for the Buckeyes since the first quarter and Ohio State never looked back. (13-10)
On the second play of the ensuing drive, Ramsey was flushed out of the pocket to his left and threw a danger ball hauled in by Josh Proctor. Proctor did an outstanding job of keeping his feet in bounds for the takeaway. Again, Ohio State did not take advantage of the turnover and punted on the following drive.
Back-to-back turnovers occurred for Ramsey when he fumbled on a Pete Werner hit. Hilliard fell on it and Ohio State finally capitalized with a 26-yard Haubeil field goal. (16-10)
The final score of the game came from Sermon once again on a 5-yard run, closing it out 22-10.
