Best Streaming Services to Watch American Football Outside the US

American football is a sport that has been gaining in popularity beyond the United States’ borders for some time.

This has especially been the case for places such as Mexico and Europe, helped by the NFL placing regular-season games in both of those places in recent seasons.

For example, three 2022 NFL games were held in London, one in Munich and one in Mexico City. Also, a 2022 college football game was held in Dublin.

Streaming Services That Cover American Football

You have a few options available, depending on your location, which allow you to settle in at home or watch an NFL game on the move.

NFL

In nearly all cases, a subscription to NFL Game Pass will be all that you need to do in order to watch all NFL games.

Viewers in predominantly Spanish-speaking countries should be able to get all of their NFL streaming needs met with NFL Game Pass.

Various other streaming services around the world also provide access to some NFL games.

For example, those in Mexico do have another option for streaming NFL games: Star+. This service provides access to numerous regular-season games, AFC playoff games and the Super Bowl.

The main exceptions to keep in mind apply to those located in the United Kingdom or Ireland as some of the games will be blacked out on this service there, requiring you to watch them on television instead or through a streaming service that offers that television channel.

Channel 5’s broadcasts can be accessed through its own website while a NOW Sports membership is necessary to stream the Sky Sports NFL Channel.

NCAA FBS and FCS Football

Unfortunately, it is not as easy or as simple to stream college football games because the channels you need vary significantly depending on your location.

Viewers located in Mexico may view many of those same matchups through ESPN.com.mx.

Here’s a roundup of streaming options by college football conference or school:

  • The Pac-12 Networks International’s YouTube channel is available mostly worldwide but not in the US or Mexico. Those who can access it can watch numerous live and archived Pac-12 conference games and non-conference tilts hosted by league schools.
  • Stadium streams numerous college football games every season, and it does not appear to have any geographical restrictions. Some games from Conference USA, Mountain West Conference, Southern Conference and Patriot League are available through it.
  • BYUtv usually streams one BYU home football game a season, and it also appears that there are no geographical restrictions placed on those streams.
  • Also consider a subscription to FloFootball. This streaming service provides access to mostly FCS contests to what appears to be a worldwide audience.

Many in Europe can watch numerous college football games through ESPN Player. The selection of countries where this service is available includes Spain.

Unfortunately, with the streaming rights for college football teams and conferences owned by several different entities, you will not get every game in one place, and the goal of watching as many games as possible is made exponentially more difficult for those outside of the US than within.

The reason for this is that many services stream games within the US, but don’t offer their services on an international basis.

With that said, gaining access to ESPN’s streams will get you the majority of the biggest games, including the three-game College Football Playoff and the vast majority of the postseason bowl games.

Accessing Spanish-Language American Football Channels

In Mexico, the channels that you will want to secure access to in order to watch NFL games are Azteca, ESPN Latin America, Fox Sports Mexico and Televisa. Also, the NFL Network broadcasts some games in that country with Spanish-language commentary being available to select as well.

In fact, ESPN Latin America is the primary NFL broadcaster throughout the rest of Latin America. This network also shows many of the top college football games to that same viewing audience.

Meanwhile, those in Spain can watch numerous NFL contests on Movistar+. College football television broadcasts are a bit harder to find in Spain though.

Summary

If you are looking to watch American football outside the US, you have numerous options available for doing so with NFL games being considerably easier to access.

Generally, a subscription to NFL Game Pass is all that you need to stream all preseason, regular season and playoff contests. Watching college games, however, will likely require you to procure access to a number of services, and you will not be able to watch some games at all.
