Berea-Midpark traveled into Amherst Friday night and picked up a commanding 64-23 victory.  They overcame a tight first quarter to dominate the final three quarters, cruising to the victory.  The Lady Titans were led by Jayce Walker and Regan Braaten with 17 each while Emma Arnold had 11 and Bella Miller scored 9.

The exciting and dynamic freshman Lexi Hall got into the act with 5 points as the Titan faithful expects big things from the playmaking freshman sensation.  These 5 are just the latest of many to come in her Titan career.  The scoring was finished off by Sadie Delavega with 3 and Avery James with 2.

Five minutes in, it was a low scoring affair as the Comets led 6-4, with the bulk of those points from Jayla Cruz at the foul line.  It was then that the Titans heated up with a Bella Miller three ball followed by a Maya Walker fast break layup to make it 9-6 Titans with 3 minutes to play.  Only moments after, the hustling Titans got a put back basketball by Arnold to increase their lead to 11-6 as Arnold had 6 early points.

After a Doan bucket cut the Titan lead to 11-8, a Walker three ball push t back out to 14-8. Moments later, yet another three ball from Walker more then doubled up the Comets at 17-8 with 1:48 to play. Helping the Comets was the fact the Titans entered the bonus with 90 seconds left to play in the first. With that, this assisted in scoring 5 straight to end the quarter only down 17-13 after one as Cruz had 7 from the line.

The second quarter was all Titans as they lit up the nets. The damage coming from a flurry of points scored by Braaten, starting with two foul shots and then a rubber rimmed three ball.  From there, the Comets did answer to make it 22-19 with 4:08 to play in the half.  From there however, the Titans closed the final four minutes on an impressive run.

It started with back to back three’s to make it 28-19 with 3:15 left in the opening half.  Braaten nailed another one right after that, moving it to 31-19.  Moments later, yet again it was Walker finding the bottom of the net from long range to increase the Titan lead to 34-21.  The Titans flurried for 8 straight more by the break, taking a commanding 42-21 lead into halftime.

After a scoreless 90 seconds to begin the half, Braaten got the Titans going again with a beautiful spin move leading to a floater in the paint to score. On the next possession Braaten hit a three from NBA range and Berea-Midpark was off to the races. After a Comet bucket, Walker got into the act with her fifth triple of the game, to run the Titan lead out to 50-23 with 4:40 to play in the third. Another Braaten flurry made it 56-23 and put it away for good.

Up 57-26 and the game already well in hand, this gave the Titans a chance to get some of the young guns playing time.  As mentioned earlier, this is when Lexi Hall decided to show up and show out giving everyone a further glimpse of what is to occur in her Titan career. Hall checked in with 5:20 to play and within a minute nailed a three ball, and then hit another shot right after that for the Titans who went on to win 64-23.

  1. Berea has a really nice team , looking at there schedule they beat a lot of quality teams . Make no mistake all the teams they beat don’t have a winning record but that’s not the point they are beating those teams good, Amherst – Elyria- Midview are way down this year but they are always prepared . So I’m really happy with the direction we are going into the post season. Go Titans
