The Berea-Midpark Titans beat the Elyria Pioneers 34-32 led by Quarterback Troy Shick as he threw 14/20 while having 161 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown.
The game was pretty back and forth, after the Titans score the Pioneers would follow with another. The problem for the Pioneers is that they could not convert on a 2 point conversion. If they are able to convert their 2 point conversions, they could have most likely won.
A Troy Shick 7 yard touchdown pass to Josh Medina made the score 7-0 giving the Titans an early lead in the game. Elyria repsonded a little bit later one with scores from Jasir Lucky and Lance Glover, while Berea-Midpark responded with one from Hudson Devins on the ground, to make it 14-12 Titans.
The Titans added to their lead in the second quarter with another Shick to Medina Scoring strike. The Pioneers responded as quarterback Ryan Klotz rushed the ball for 28 yards, putting them at the Titans 32 yard line. The play after that, Lance Glover scored on a 32 yard touchdown run, making the score of the game 21-18 Titans, after the Pioneers once again could not convert on the 2 point conversion.
The Titans got the ball back and were able to make great advancement down the field with Running back Hudson Devins plowing through the Pioneers defense for a rush of 32 yards to get the Titans to the Pioneers 15 yard line. Troy Shick then threw it to Devyn Zahurksy for a 15 yard gain to put them at the one yard line. Troy Shick rushed the ball in for the 1 yard touchdown, to make the score 28-18 after the extra point was made.
Starting the third quarter, Lance Glover was able to make his way down the field with three 10+ yard runs and finally being able to punch it in for the touchdown at the 1 yard line, making the score 28-24 Titans, after another failed 2 point conversion.
The Titans got the ball back and their starting quarterback Troy Shick went down. The Titans were forced to punt the ball and it was a bad snap. This led to the Pioneers special teams rushing the punter and tackling him, putting the ball at the 50 yard line. A few plays later it was Ryan Klotz throwing a 34 yard touchdown pass to Daelyn Beckett making the score 32-28 as the Pioneers finally converted on the 2 point conversion with a pass to Lance Glover with the Pioneers leading on the Titans.
Troy Shick checked back in later for the Titans and was able to move the ball down field with his passing, setting up his team to be in scoring position. Troy Shick threw a 15 yard pass to Austin Clay to put them in the red zone, then went right back to Austin Clay for a 8 yard touchdown pass, making the score 34-32 Titans, after the extra point was blocked.
The Titans hung on for a 34-32 victory.
