For the first time in history folks, a player who’s team didn’t win the game, has won The Player of the Week award. Congrats to Jon Lyons of Berea-Midpark who absolutely did it all last Friday night in a heartbreaker against North Ridgeville.
Lyons was all over the ball and couldn’t be stopped by the Rangers. He finished the game with an astonishing 5 touchdowns, including catching a dramatic last second Hail Mary from Luke Devins for a touchdown that sent the game into overtime.
Lyons leads the team in rushing yards and has been the feature back this season. Pretty impressive for a player who didn’t start his first game at tailback until week three of the season.
Lyons just narrowly beat out Owen Menge of Columbia and Tommy Bebie of Rocky River to win the award.
