BROOK PARK – John F. Kennedy Park in Brook Park at 17095 Sylvia Dr was the subject of Stop 48 on the 2025 Summer Park Tour. My family was a bit hesitant after visiting this same park in 2023 and it appeared to be rather rundown. What we encountered today was a total 180 as they have made some major upgrades and added a beautiful memorial near the street. What we expected and what we received was two completely different things. Our hat is off to Mayor Ed Orcutt as this is now a must destination for any family or proud American citizen wanting to pay their respects.
From adding two clean and safe giant playsets, which are giant upgrades from the rusty old ones they had, to adding a zipline this playground saw major improvements. Mix in the vibrant colors, the rubber padding near the playsets and clean indoor bathrooms, and this will be a permanent fixture on future summer Park Tours. Did I mention plenty of clean places for parents to sit in the shade and still have a close eye on their children? Bravo Mayor Orcutt and City Council, masterful job with this one!
