Bay Rockets Take 3rd In Cleveland West Conference Preview

Per Rick Manderine

Congratulations to the Westlake Demons on an outstanding performance at the Cleveland West Conference golf preview.  The Demons secured 1st place scoring a 309.  Medina Country Club provided a stern test.  The undulating greens and intense heat were a tough combination.

The Rockets performed extremely well too, posting a team score 321.  (Sr.) Ian Williams led the charge, carding a 77.  Overall, Ian finished 2nd place in the 56 player field.  Ian started off hot scoring -2 (34) on the front 9.  He had three birdies and an eagle.  It was his fifth eagle of the season.

(Sr.) Ben Shuster continued his great season posting an 80.  Ben’s late round birdie on hole #16 was a key highlight.  (Jr.) Travis Ropelewski was hitting nukes off the tee en route to an 80.  Travis eagled the par 5 12th with a long putt.  These outstanding rounds earned them a T-8th place.

(Jr.) Trevor Ormsby stayed calm, cool and collective, scoring an 84.  (Jr.) Jayson Miller overcame early round struggles.  He never gave-up scoring a 37 on his final nine.  Jayson had birdied holes #10 and #14.

The battle for the CWC championship is going to be intense.  The overall play in the league is outstanding.  The Rockets return to league play Wednesday and Thursday.
