From the opening snap Barberton dominated as Stow’s offense struggled early and often as they were shut out tonight by Barberton. Whether it was Stow’s four turnovers they had tonight, bad snaps, or penalties the Stow offense could never get it going in week two.
The stand out player of the night for Barberton was Xzavier Macon as he rushed for the games first touchdown, on a 24 yard rushing touchdown to have Barberton go up 10-0. As well as his 26 yard pick six. To give Barberton a 17-0 lead. Macon had both of Barberton’s lone touchdowns of the game.
The other stand out of the night was the Barberton kicker, Trenton Doerfler, making all of his PAT’s as well as two field goals. To make the 20-0 score happen tonight.
Stow’s offense was led by freshman quarterback Jacob Harrington, and unfortunately for Stow he looked like a freshman quarterback tonight. He threw two interceptions tonight, a fumbled handoff. And on one drive today looked to the sideline and threw his hands up as if to say he did not know what play they were running.
The best player for Stow tonight was linebacker, Teddy Gregory Jr. Although Stow did lose tonight, the defense only gave up 13 of the 20 points scored by Barberton tonight. Gregory was all over the place tonight on defense. Making big hits and plays for his defense. Gregory did all that he could, but was not enough to give any momentum for Stow.
The best drive of the night for Stow resulted in a fumble. The offense was finally moving the ball but one of the four turnovers tonight came on that drive and halted any possibility of a Stow rally
Barberton’s offense was led by junior quarterback Dominic Wilson. Although Wilson did not throw for any touchdowns tonight, he was able to manage the offense with a couple of big pass plays to put the Barberton offense to score.
Barberton’s next two games are on the road. Next week they face off against Saint Vincent Saint Mary, and the following week at Kent Roosevelt, but if there was anyway to start of a three game road trip this is it as they are now 1-1 in the early part of the season
Stow is on the road. The next two games are also on the road as they will be facing off against Solon and Medina. Tough way to start the home schedule as they fall to 1-1 tonight, but the season is still early and there is room to improve.
