Strongsville, OH: For the third time in four days, Strongsville (12-1) came away with a victory on their home court, this time a 67-34 win over Shaker Heights. The Mustangs got great performances from Kennedi Neale (22 points), Sydney Bass (17 points), and Sidney Butera (16 points) to lead the way to victory. Senior Lizzy Favret led the way for the Red Raiders with 16 points.
The Strongsville defense started the game on a mission, using stifling defense to force Shaker Heights into multiple turnovers that led to quick points. The attack couldn’t have been more balanced for the Mustangs as Butera, Bass, and Eszter Dioszegi each scored six points in the opening frame. After one quarter of action, Strongsville held an 18-4 advantage.
After being held scoreless in the first, senior Kennedi Neale was on fire in the second, scoring 12 points on four made three-pointers. Sydney Bass did not miss a beat either, nailing three three-pointers of her own. By the time the halftime buzzer sounded, the Mustangs were up 43-17.
Strongsville continued to roll in the third, outscoring the Red Raiders 16-9. One bright spot in the quarter for Shaker Heights was senior Lizzy Favret, who scored six of their nine points. The Mustangs attack was just too much for the Red Raiders and Strongsville led 59-26 after three.
With the outcome no longer in doubt, both coaches emptied their benches and got minutes for everyone on the roster. Both sides scored eight in the quarter, but when the final horn sounded the Lady Mustangs walked away with a 67-34 win.
