NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio – It was all Avon tonight in a battle of the Eagles as they took apart North Olmsted 38-7 to improve to 7-0 on the season. Avon will look to remain red hot next week as they host North Ridgeville. North Olmsted is now 4-3 and will look to rebound as they travel to 6-1 Olmsted Falls.

For Avon, it was the quarterback running back combo that has been dominating the SWC this season. Quarterback Danny Zeh threw for 268 yards on 18 of 28 passing with a touchdown and two interceptions. He bounced back from two interceptions for a solid night. Zeh continues to get better each and every time out.
However, for the first time all season the running back dominating the defense was no longer Nick Perusek, who is now out for the season with injury. Instead it was done by a committee of Avon Eagles that teamed up to pile up 193 yards.
Joey Lance did it all as he ran for 98 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown to put the game away in the fourth quarter. Lance caught 5 balls for 76 yards as well as Lance has more than ever become one of the major focal points of this offense.
Also scoring in the fourth quarter on runs was Cam Erskine who finished with 53 yards rushing on 7 carries. He also scored in the second quarter as well. Erskine was all over the ball on defense, the young man had a monster night. The third head of the rushing monster Devin Hunter who ran for 42 yards on 10 carries and scored twice.
If Avon is going to achieve another 10-0 season, their defense will need to continue to step it up on defense like they have all season long.
They did tonight as well as they shut down the North Olmsted run game, and caused havoc for quarterback Anthony Guercio who tossed for 142 yards on 11 of 30 passing, while getting sacked five times and picked off once.
He did have one touchdown pass to Zach Doucette. He also ran the ball 10 times for 71 yards.
Avon built a commanding 17-0 lead by halftime thanks to a stout defense and excellent play calling. After a 32-yard field goal on their opening drive, they struck again a few drives later. Thanks to a questionable spot that kept the drive alive, the Avon Eagles would cash in shortly there after on a 3-yard Devon Hunter touchdown rumble.
Avon wasn’t done scoring in the first half however, as they would strike again in the second quarter. This time it was the long ball as Zeh launched a 73-yard pitch and catch to Ryan Ptacek to earn Avon a 17-0 lead at the break.
After a North Olmsted touchdown cut the lead to 17-7 at the close of the third quarter, Avon did what they did best to explode for 21 points in the fourth quarter to put it away for good.
Avon scored on touchdown runs from Erskine, Lance and Hunter. The Erskine run was a double reverse that he took to the house for a monstrous 65-yard touchdown that broke the back of North Olmsted.
The player of the game was Joey Lance with 174 combined yards and a touchdown.
