DAYTON, Ohio — Purcell Marian cemented its place in Ohio high school basketball history Friday afternoon, becoming just the fourth girls basketball program to win four consecutive state championships with a commanding 72-44 victory over Avon Lake in the OHSAA Division III state final at the University of Dayton Arena.
Purcell Marian (23-6), ranked No. 15 in Ohio by MaxPreps, capped off its dominant four-year stretch with an impressive 106-10 overall record. The Cavaliers closed out this season with 11 straight wins, further solidifying their dynasty in Ohio high school basketball.
The victory adds to Purcell Marian’s growing legacy, following back-to-back Division II state titles in 2024 and 2023, as well as a Division III championship in 2022. Only three other programs—Mount Notre Dame (2006-09), South Euclid Regina (2000-03), and Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown (2009-13)—have accomplished the feat of winning four consecutive state titles.
Purcell Marian’s senior class, consisting of Dee Alexander, Cy’Aira Miller, Ky’Aira Miller, Trinity Small, Jaylah Winters, and Alexis McDonald, finished their high school careers with four state championship rings, leaving an indelible mark on the program.
