As we approach tonight’s Episode of the Golden bachelor on ABC, a favorite to win it all has emerged and her name is Ellen!
On last weeks episode, “The more I get to know who Gerry is, the more nervous I get,” Ellen told Gerry. “You brought out a spark in me that I didn’t realize how much I needed. I can’t even remember the last time I felt this way, giggling, laughing, kissing. I’m so happy, yet apprehensive, but I feel the need and the want to take a leap of faith and tell you… I’m falling in love with you, Gerry, and it’s really hard.”
“It’s hard I know. I feel your emotion. I’m in the same place,” Gerry replied, before telling the cameras, “The last time that happened was with my wife of 43 years. When I lost Toni and I thought the world ended, I never thought I’d see it again, and yet I am.”
Looking back to episode 3, you must recall that Gerry chose Ellen for a one-on-one date. It was the theme of “Pretty Woman” in which the Bachelor gifts the woman with a beautiful dress from fashion designer Michael Costello, shoes, and jewelry. Gerry gave Ellen a pair of earrings. They then went on a hot air balloon ride, during which their connection became even deeper, and they shared a kiss. Gerry then gave her the date rose. it appeared to everyone watching, to be the strongest connection by far that he had shared with anyone.
You also must remember that before that even occurred, on Episode two, Ellen appears to be the only one in which Gerry had a picture of them framed together. It really is starting too look like she is the one who will walk away with the final rose.
HOWEVER, rumors have been flying in as of late, and if they are true, this would be the most gut wrenching ending in Bachelor history. Before he can propose to her, she leaves before hometown dates can occur. Reason being, she leaves to be by her best friend Roberta’s bedside as she is dying of cancer.
If true, I’m not sure this show has ever seen a bigger gut punch.
