Aurora Greenmen Defeat Twinsburg Tigers to Start Football Season

The Aurora Greenmen spoiled the Twinsburg Tiger’s first home game of the season with a dominating score of 42 – 6.

The Greenmen were the first to get on the board in the first quarter with a rushing touchdown by Cole Walton. The Tigers gained possession, but a costly fumble by quarterback Joey Pollock was a huge momentum shift within the game. Aurora went on to score again in the first half with a rushing touchdown by Lucas Manderbach which extended the lead 14-0.

Aurora regained possession and quarterback Ryan Dwyer was able to find Alex Brooker for the first receiving touchdown of the game. The Tigers looked to respond with their next drive when Joey Pollock went deep to JD Okuma downfield to the one yard line. Twisburg wasn’t able to capitalize on the drive as they went four and out with a penalty and sack. Twinsburg’s JD Okuma had another big play on defense with an interception before halftime.

Twinsburg turned over on downs with their first drive in the second half. Aurora converted that turnover into points with Cole Walton’s second rushing touchdown of the game. An onslaught of Aurora touchdowns followed with a rushing touchdown by Tommy Tartabini and a pick six by Ben Lukasik. Just before the end of the game Joey Pollock was able to find Rob Herndon for the first Tiger touchdown of the season, finishing out the night with a score of 42 – 6.

Next week, the Twinsburg Tigers will host Akron North at Tiger Stadium, while the Aurora Greenmen will look to get their second win of the season at home versus Lutheran West.
