Athens Gain Their First Victory of the Season

Plains, Ohio- The Athens Bulldogs took on the Alexander Spartans on Friday, September 10, 2021, at the Joe Burrow Stadium.

The Bulldogs were eager to get their first win of the season, they showed up to their home stadium with determination like no other.

Athens was on fire during the first quarter. They had a 24-yard touchdown pass to Alex Pero with 4:28 to go in the first quarter. The extra point was good. Making the score 7-0, Athens.

Athens scored another 25-yard touchdown pass to Levi Neal with 2:09 to go in the first quarter. The extra point was good making the score 14-0, Athens.

The first quarter ended, 14-0, Athens. This is the earliest the Bulldogs have scored this season. The Bulldogs worked together and in return, they had an incredible first quarter.

The Bulldogs kept the same momentum starting the second quarter with yet another touchdown pass to Braxton Springer. The extra point was good. Making the score 21-0, Athens.

Athens, Luke Brandes scored a touchdown with 3:05 to go in the second quarter. The extra point was blocked. Making the score 27-0, Athens.

The Spartans finally put a score on the board with 1:51 to go in the second quarter. A touchdown by Landon Althouse and the extra point was good. Making the score 27-7, Athens.

To end the second quarter, Athens, Brandes, scored a touchdown. The extra point was good. Making the score 34-7, Athens.

Athens played the best they have all season. Each week, the Bulldogs seem to be improving more and more. The Bulldogs had back-to-back touchdowns throughout the first half. The halftime score was 34-7, Athens.

In the third quarter, Athens, Brandes scored a touchdown and the extra point was good. Making the score 41-7, Athens.

The Spartans, Jordan Schulz, scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter and the extra point was good. Making the score 41-14, Athens.

Athens pulled out an incredible win 41-14, making this their first victory of the season. Athens will be away next Friday as they take on Vinton County.
