Plains, Ohio- The Athens Bulldogs took on the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes at the Joe Burrow Stadium. Athens was celebrating their senior night. Although a primarily young team, the Bulldogs will be parting ways with a couple of seniors this year.
The Buckeyes, Drew Carter, put the first score on the board. Carter intercepted the ball early in the first quarter. The Buckeyes missed the extra point after. Making the score 6-0, Nelsonville-York.
Carter had a 60-yard touchdown for his second touchdown of the night. The point after was good, making the score 13-0, Nelsonville-York.
The first quarter ended with Nelsonville-York in the lead with 13 points and Athens scoreless.
Nelsonville-York’s, Carter, scored his third touchdown at the beginning of the second quarter. The point after was good, making the score 20-0, Nelsonville-York.
Nelsonville-York’s, Carter, once again scored a touchdown with 1:12 to go in the first half. The point after was good, advancing the Buckeyes lead to 27, Athens 0.

With 7:04 to go in the 3rd quarter Nelsonville-York’s Hudson Sadler, scored a three-yard touchdown with a good point after which advanced their lead 34 points over Athens.
Athens put a score on the board with 16 seconds to go in the third quarter. Which made the score going into the fourth quarter 34-6, Nelsonville-York.
Nelsonville-York’s, Gavin Richards, scored a touchdown within a couple of minutes of the fourth quarter. A good extra point, made the score 41-6, Nelsonville-York.
The final score of the night was 41-6, Nelsonville-York. The Buckeyes won the sectional championship and will compete next week in the playoffs. Athens finished 3-7 this season.
