Allar and Medina Turn off the Lights on Strongsville

Penn State Commit Drew Allar led Medina to a dominant win over conference rival Strongsville.

When analysts discuss football, there is always one position that is credited with being the most important – Quarterback. The way a quarterback can control the game with his arm or his legs has always impacted the game at every level.

Not only did Allar have a great game and showcase his talent, but he demonstrated why he is one of the top players in Ohio.

The Medina Battling Bees (4-0)  looked to add another win and remain undefeated at home against the Strongsville Mustangs (3-1).

On the Battling Bees’ first offensive play, they ran a trick play and Allar found a wide-open Brennen Schramm who scored a 52-yard touchdown.

At the half, Medina had a commanding 28-3 lead. Allar was 15/18 for 285 yards and 4 total touchdowns; 3 in the air and a 1-yard QB sneak. Brennen Schramm and Michael Rodak had 96 and 97 yards respectively and a touchdown apiece at half.

This offense was clicking on all cylinders and there wasn’t anything Strongsville could do to stop it.

To start the second half, Strongsville was able to force a stop and on the ensuing drive running back Anthony Gentile broke off a 72-yard touchdown run to bring his team within 3 scores.

But Allar and his offense responded right back.A strike for 44 yards to Jajuan Jackson put the Bees in scoring position. They capped off the drive with another QB sneak.

The game actually ended with 2:21 remaining in the fourth quarter because a fuse blew in one of the light poles.

The 48-13 win takes Medina to 5-0 and drops Strongsville to 3-2.

Medina had 4 receivers with over 90 yards receiving and each one hauled in a TD.

Gentile for Strongsville had a great game as well with 174 total rushing yards and a touchdown.

Strongsville quarterback Maddux Beard added 113 passing yards and 45 on the ground.

Next week Strongsville looks to bounce back against Cleveland Heights and Medina attempts to continue their winning streak against Euclid.

The player of the game is Drew Allar. He finished with a whopping 474 total yards and 7 touchdowns. Most of Allar’s yards came in the air, going 22/ 32 for 446 yards.
