AEW WRESTLEDREAM Hits and Misses

The misses

Edge arriving to close the show and attack Christian

Edge showing up is actually a mistake. It may sound crazy, but with Christian doing the best work of his career, this may have been the worst time for Edge to show up.  As Christian did in TNA Impact, he has shown he can make it on his own and thrive!  He was right in the middle of doing that again by establishing a faction with Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus.

He needed to be the focal point, and big things would continue to happen.  Now, with Edge showing up to save Darby Allin from a post-match beatdown, instantly kills the full heat Cage was drawing and building.  Don’t get me wrong, I love Edge as much as the next guy, but I just cannot get behind this move.

Tony Khan, Katsuyori Shibata, Rocky Romero, and the grandchildren of Antonio Inoki celebrate Inoki.

A cool tribute, but once again, Tony Khan who had nothing to do with the career of Inoki had no business being out there and looked like a total goof with the scarf on.  Khan continues to look sleezy in these situations, much like he did with the Owen Hart Memorial Cup.  It just comes across insincere.

Eddie Kingston beats Katsuyori Shibata to retain the ROH World Title & NJPW STRONG Openweight Title

Who cares about Eddie Kingston?  The longer he holds both belts, the less prestige they are going to have.  He is the exact opposite of what ROH was built on.  Kingston belongs on the free portion of the undercard, not competing for World Titles.

Kris Statlander beats Julia Hart to retain the TBS Title

Is it just me, or does this championship feel like the secondary title still?  Everyone loved Jade Cargill and AEW made the mammoth mistake to take the belt off her, and not resign her.  There is some serious talent on this women’s roster, and everyday the belt stays with Statlander is a waste.

The Young Bucks win the Fatal 4 Way Match and earn an AEW Tag Team Title Match at any time of their choosing.

Umm, so it will be them vs FTR yet again?  Can we please move on from that feud already? And when did the Aussie Open become such jobbers all of a sudden?
