AEW Worlds End was booked very well, albeit I think fans may have wanted a little more than the obvious Adam Cole selection as the Devil, and they may have wanted a shocker instead. Perhaps, the quick switch to keep the TNT Belt with Christian Cage may have rubbed some people the wrong wat as well. However, in my mind, a lot of decisions made sense and I would like to highlight those at this time.
Decision – Samoa Joe defeats MJF for AEW World Championship
Why I agree – MJF is better as a heel, and it appears those days are over. Thus, if you are going to insist that he is going to be a face now, you will need him chasing titles, and also avenging blood feuds. He will take a few months off to heal up and come back as a white-hot face going after Adam Cole before he sets his sights on another title run.
As for the AEW World Championship, if there is one thing AEW loves, it is long world title reigns. It will be interesting to see how they present Joe, and what some of his possible feuds may look like. I’m excited for this reign, however I do feel that it will be one of the shorter ones and I’m merely guessing, that Hangman Adam Page may be the first in line to challenge him.
Decision – Eddie Kingston defeating Jon Moxley for the inaugural AEW Continental Championship.
Why I agree – Despite this boiling down to what was in theory, an Eddie Kingston ROH World Title defense, it was still fun to watch and the tournament as a whole, was very enjoyable. Kingston appears to be an underdog fans love to get behind, and this will give them the “working mans” hero, a little bit longer. I do feel it is only a matter of time before they start merging ROH and AEW titles anyway.
Decision – Adam “Edge” Copeland loses the TNT title back to Christian Cage only seconds after winning it from him.
Why I agree – It keeps Christian as the most hated man in wrestling, and at the same time, he has his pet monster in Killswitch looking more believable than ever.
Decision – Toni Storm and Julia Hart both retaining their Women’s World Championships.
Why I agree – With as weak as this division is right now, it was the smart move to keep the belts right where they are at. Toni Storm is the best and biggest thing the company has now that the Devil angle is over, and Julia Hart needed the rub she got by retaining.
Decision – Jericho, Sammy, Sting and Darby Allin defeating Big Bill, Ricky Starks, Powerhouse Hobbes and Konosuke Takeshita.
Why I agree – This sets up Le Sex Gods to challenge Big Bill and Starks for the Tag Titles. Also, it was time for the Callis Family to take a loss for once. It has to even out at some point.
Decision – Hook defeats Wheeler Yuta to retain his FTW Championship.
Why I agree – Despite it being a stupid championship, it is on the right guy, and they need to push Hook to the moon!
Decision – Willow Nightingale defeats Kris Statlander on the pre-show
Why I agree – I’m just glad AEW woke up and remembered that Statlander is a preshow jobber, and not a world champion. That was a horrible idea in the first place!
