AEW Dynamite Report Card 7/12/23

Let’s take a look at, and grade what jumped out the most from tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS.

The Blood & Guts Teams are now set.

Representing The Blackpool Combat Club: Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Konosuke Takeshita, & PAC

Representing The Golden Elite: Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, The Young Bucks, & Kota Ibushi

Grade – B

Reason for grade – Despite if you have knowledge of NPJW stars or not, pretty much everyone has heard of Kota Ibushi and Konosuke Takeshita at this point and seen their matches. With that being said, this should be a great match in which all fans can enjoy. The only drawback is no Bryan Danielson in ring for this, but I do suspect he will find a way to get involved and help The Bullett Club attempt to cheat for the win.

That is how the showed ended.  Let’s take a look at how it began.

Chris Jericho beats Komander and Don Callis makes his way out and shows footage of them when they were paired up with Bad News Allen in 1995.  Don wants Jericho to join up with him once again in the Don Callis Family but Jericho seems lukewarm to the idea. Meanwhile, later on in in the night Jake Hager says that whatever Chris Jericho decides it will affect him as well and that he can’t be by his side 100% until he does make a choice.  He reminds him of how he saved his life in Saudia Arabia all those years ago.  In the most emotional moment of the segment, Hager surrenders his Bucket Hat to Jericho.

Grade – B

Reason – A bit silly, but emotional all at the same time.  It has a bit of reality to it as well, and will set the tone for Jericho’s heel run with Don Callis even stronger when he does infact, join team Callis.

Elsewhere on the program…

The Bromance with Adam Cole and MJF reaches a new level as MJF gets Adam Cole to wear the T Shirt he made, and in exchange MJF plays Fight Forever with Cole.  This was after Cole ran wing man duties for MJF to troll for women at the bar.

Grade – A

Reason – This could be the new DX if they really wanted it to be.  This is great, and despite all of us knowing that it ends with MJF turning on Cole, it is easy to love every second of.

In Tag Tournament action

Sammy Guevara & Daniel Garcia beat Darby Allin & Orange Cassidy in the Blind Eliminator after Swerve Strickland cost Darby the match while MJF & Adam Cole beat Brian Cage & Big Bill in the Blind Eliminator.

Grade – A

Reason – It is just a fun concept to watch play out and something that truly reminds of certain small aspects of the old WCW Battle bowl way back when. I’m not sure either team has a chance to actually defeat FTR, but it is fun to watch nonetheless.

In the Women’s Owen Hart tournament, Ruby Soho defeats Skye Blue to advance to the Finals of the Women’s Owen Hart Tournament.

Grade – C

Reason – Meh,,,,,,
