Also as mentioned, the main event had Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin teaming up to wrestle Shawn Spears and Sammy Guevara. Despite no real crowd in attendance, it didn’t stop them from doing several high spots and delivering quite the entertaining main event.
The finish occurred when Guevara slid in a chair for Spears to use on Cody, Allin took the chair but then Guevara took the chair from Allin, before Spears landed with a surprise roll-up on the distracted Allin.
In the end it was Spears and Guevara pulling off the big time upset. Which led to Allin punching Cody right in the mouth, drawing blood.
Elsewhere on the show, Kenny Omega and Trent put on a great high flying and extremely action-packed match to open the show. Omega continues to be the workhorse of this promotion as he can have a great match with anyone. The match went 19 of the 20-minute time limit before Omega took home the win.
Lance Archer’s opponent for his debut was Marko Stunt. This proved to be the squash match we all expected it to be. While I see the end goal being Cody vs Archer, it bugs me for two reasons. One, there was never a clear ending to the MJF feud, and two, I want to see Archer vs Luchasaurus happen first.
The video packages were great. We got an excellent promo once again by Jake Roberts near what appears to be a campfire. Then a fun one with the Young Bucks trying to train and get Nick back into ring shape. Finally, Chris Jericho delivering pure gold as usual. Releasing several small dogs to chase after Matt Hardy’s drone. Again, pure comedic gold from Jericho.
