AEW All Out 2021 Recap & Reaction

Miro had perhaps his best match since arriving in AEW as Eddie Kingston absolutely took him to his limit to open up the main portion of the card. In the end, Miro would get some help from the referee who avertedly distracted Eddie for the win.  It was a good opening match despite the lack of the Ravishing One CJ Perry.  I’m starting to think we are not going to see her in AEW anytime soon if ever.

Jon Moxley is trying out his rebel without a cause take on the world gimmick right now, and it appears to be working.  Moxley is over with the fans, but they sure cheered him getting his ass beat by Minoru Suzuki tonight after he beat Satoshi Kojima.  Not sure why it has become “Moxley vs Japan” all of a sudden, but whatever, moving on.

If we gave away a “Most Improved” Award, it would go to the AEW Women’s Division which has grown leaps and bounds over the last year.  Britt Baker is over like Rover and they teased a possible rematch tonight with her and Thunder Rosa, but in the end, it was the debuting Ruby Soho showing up to win the Battle Royale and challenge the champ.

Baker, for her part, took down Chris Statlander earlier in the night as well in a successful title defense.  The hype for a rematch with Thunder Rosa and Hikaru Shida still exists, but for now, Baker will have to put focus on Ruby.

In perhaps the best Tag Team Title match in AEW history, and that is saying something, The Lucha Brothers defeated The Young Bucks in a thriller!  It was an epic Cage match that was far from short on the highlights. It was 22 plus minutes of 5 star action!

The Chris Jericho versus MJF match had that old school, “loser leaves town” mentality feel to it.  MJF came out to a timeclock, echoing back to when Jericho first did it in Chicago back in 1999 with his WWF debut. Jericho had his guitar player from Fozzy play him to the ring as the fans sang the lyrics. The intros actually outshined the match as Jericho hung on to win in a decent match. This feud was fun, but I think it has now run its course.

The CM Punk versus Darby Allin match didn’t disappoint tonight either.  The crowd was red hot for it and actually chanted for Allin at points as well.  In the end, it was what we hoped it would be as Punk looks to be all the way back, and Allin proved he was ready for the big moment as well. Punk won, but who is next?

The only yawn of the night came with The Big Show Paul Wight against QT Marshall.  Fans weren’t expecting much, and they got even less than that. It lasted 3:10 and that was about 3 minutes too long for this squash match.  Not sure why it was on the PPV.

  1. Cole v Bryan in the lead up to 2019 Survivor Series was a straight banger. Can’t wait to see that again with the shackles of WWE removed.
