Philadelphia’s own Abraham Lincoln Rail Splitters and Kensington Tigers met up for an In-conference matchup at the South Philadelphia Super Site Saturday evening. Both teams entered the contest with 1-0 starts to their seasons and were looking to capitalize off of their season opening wins here in week 2.

The Rail Splitters went up on the Tigers 8-6 early in the first quarter as both teams were trying to figure each other out and find their footing. It didn’t take Abraham Lincoln long to do so as Sophomore back Roling Davis returned a kick back to the house to put the Rail Splitters up 15-6 right as the first quarter ended.

The Kensington Tigers tried to answer back but went 4 and out on their first possession of the second Quarter. Lincoln’s defense put massive pressure on Kensington’s Quarterback Jason Slevenski, creating absolute chaos up front and making it hard for him to operate in the pocket. Lincoln took over possession after the punt and would not look back from there. Quarterback Ameen Stevens-Burke did a great job of throwing the ball with accuracy and putting his receivers in good positions to gain yardage after the catch. However, at the goaline Stevens-Burke would keep the ball himself on a flawless RPO that would allow him to get into the endzone with ease making the score 22-6

Kensington would continue to struggle gaining yardage as Lincoln’s staunch defense played with an unmatched sense of urgency. Kensington would be forced to punt yet again and their defense would be tasked with stopping this high-octane offense from scoring again before the conclusion of the half. This would not go as planned though, as Stevens-Burke hit Roling Davis for a screen pass and the speedster would take it the length of the field for another touchdown and put Lincoln up 28-6. The Rail Splitters still weren’t satisfied after this and went for an onside kick as the second quarter was coming to a close and they recovered it. With the great field position they gained, Lincoln had the opportunity to throw in another touchdown as time was expiring.

Lincoln would enter the second half with a comfortable 34-6 lead and took over possession to get the half started. The Rail Splitters looked to the run game early and marched up the field as Kensington’s defense simply could not contain their running backs. Junior running back Tamaj Jenkins broke tackle after tackle during this drive and they heavily relied on him. Stevens-Burkes would then hit wide receiver Xavier Irizarry for yet another touch down as Kensington helplessly watched the lead balloon to 35. The Tigers would eventually give the ball back up and Lincoln would capitalize yet again with a touchdown run by Tamaj Jenkins. Jenkins’ score would be followed up with a demoralizing 2-point conversion making the score 49-6.

The Kensington Tigers would enter the fourth quarter with very little confidence and visibly agitated with Lincoln’s dominance. Lincoln would score on their opening drive with one last touchdown from running back Koyei Simmons-Greene that sealed the deal and got the Rail Splitters their second win of the season in effortless fashion. Lincoln will look to improve to 3-0 next week against the Mastbaum Vo-Tech Panthers(0-1),  while Kensington will look to bounce back against the Roxborough Indians(0-1).

Player Of The Game: Ameen Stevens-Burke(QB)
