NORTH OLMSTED, OH – While all eyes will be on the loaded senior class in local girls hoops this year, it is always a smart idea to take a look at the incoming freshmen that can and will be game changers as well. Some will play JV this year, and some will actually start on Varsity, it all depends on the strength and need of that program.  That being said, let’s take a look at 7 girls coming into big programs this season, that you would be awfully smart to keep your eyes on.

Olivia Dewey – Rocky River

She’s a difference maker, she shoots with range and confidence.  She can handle the pressure and run the point well.  A great teammate and supporter of the girls around her.  This is the kid you want as your teammate and a floor general.

Elizabeth Lang – Rocky River

Liz is a great presence underneath but can also step out and knock down 18-20 footers consistently.  She can also dominate the boards with every inch of her 6 foot frame.  She also has handles for a taller girl and a great teammate.  She can knock down a three and can also take you off the dribble, all of this as a post player!

Elle Lakios – Magnificat

She has the smoothest three point shot of any freshman in the area, it is effortless.  She can handle the pressure of a one guard while still playing the two.  She is great in a press with perfect up the floor vision.  She finishes with ease around the basket, she is crafty and shifty.  She is a true scorer!   She also has a deep range of shooting ability.  She will learn from Sophia Wilson and continue to grow while playing JV.

Reagan Braaten – Berea-Midpark

She has basketball in her blood and can come in and make an immediate impact for the Lady Titans. She can shoot from anywhere on the court and it is going in!  She has good ball handling skills and can also find her way in the paint to grab some boards when needed as well! She is a kid who is hungry to win and demands a lot of herself to succeed. She is a game changer for Berea-Midpark.  She plays with an edge and that makes her very dangerous, this is not the player you want guarding you, or have to guard.  Kendall was a Kee On Sports favorite, we’re excited to cover younger sister Reagan.

Sydney Butera – Strongsville

She can beat you in multiple ways, she has a mid-range and deep three game as well.  She can get to the basket like a Steph Curry style scorer.  Passing skills are still developing, but she can score in bunches and drop a 40 spot on you before you know what happened.   She is a prolific scorer.

Brooke Schroeder – North Ridgeville

She is going to step in and fill the shoes of a true point guard.  She is a tenacious defender who can also shoot the ball with confidence.  She feeds off her defense.  She can score, but is always looking to make the right basketball play.  Her basketball IQ is through the roof.  She is a sleeper, and can put up a double double while making it look effortless. She will fit in well in the Coach Esser system.  Steals, rebounds, deflections, she can do it all!

Mady Sokoloski – Keystone

She can step right in and start putting up numbers. She is a knockdown mid range shooter.  She can score in multiple ways with difficulty around the hoop.  She is a solid defender as well.  She is a sharp scorer who goes about it in a methodical fashion because she can score in so many different ways. She will be a focus at Keystone for the next four years.

You know, seven isn’t nearly enough, here are three more.

Nora Bruder – Rocky River

A very hard worker eager to get better every time out. Good handles with a pretty good shot from range.  She is steady and consistent, and won’t turn the ball over. She is loaded with potential and can grow into a key role under one of the best coaches in the area with Jamey Pfahl.

Alaina Pagan – Avon

Another young talent that has 4 years to get better and shine under dynamic head coach Maggie Ferrando. With her ability to score, she should shine in this offense when the call comes. She spent some considerable time working on her shot in the offseason, and this young Eagle is ready for it to pay off!

Emma Schaefer Olmsted Falls

Emma Schaefer will be another great Olmsted Falls Bulldog guard. She has great length, superb athleticism, and is athletic as they come. She can also defend all 5 positions and can stretch the defense.
