A Message To The Browns From A Concerned Father: Beat The Steelers

1999 Chris Palmer and the new Browns win on the road. First win over Pitt in the new era and only their second win of the season. They would finish 2-14

2000 The Browns defeat Pittsburgh for their first win at First Energy Stadium (then called Cleveland Browns Stadium). They would go on to finish 3-13

2003 – A blowout win on Sunday night football in a year that had playoff expectations. It was also Butch Davis only win over Pittsburgh as a head coach. It was also Tim Couch’s third win over the hated rivals as a starter.

2009 – A game so cold that beers started to freeze into ice. A wicked cold night in an horrendous season that only saw 1 win until that point. The Browns would stun the defending Super Bowl champs and it would spurn the four-game winning streak to close the season at 5-11.

2012 – The win started a 3 game winning streak for Brandon Weeden and the Browns, but it was fools gold as they would eventually lose three straight to close the season and send Pat Shumer and Mike Holmgren packing.

2014 – A big win that jumpstarted the short-lived Brian Hoyer era in Cleveland. They’d run their record to 7-4 and things were looking great until Jonny, Josh and Mike Pettine managed to ruin everything and set the franchise back 4 years.

That was October of 2014, my oldest daughter was one years old. Let that sink in……….

  1. Little older than you but same feelings. My earliest memories were the Cardiac kids just before you were born. Need to break this cycle. My 15 year old has never seen a decent team! To his credit he still a fan!

  2. Excellent story Vince. Brings back some good and bad memories and remembering your Excitement of watching every play., that’s my best memories of the Browns. You and your Brother Don. Watching the games on TV. And hopes for next year’s
