The Browns would lose 6 of their last 8 games and finish at 7-9, missing the playoffs. The move from Belichick didn’t look too bad the next year however, when Testaverde led the Browns to the playoffs with a 11-5 record. He even led them to their last playoff win over Bill Parcels, Drew Bledsoe and the Patriots that year as well.
So who was right, Bill or Bernie? Let’s take a look at the final stats when you wrap up all 3 careers. Bernie, Bill and Vinny
Bernie went on to do nothing at all after that. However had the incredible fortune of being signed by Dallas who ended up winning the Super Bowl that season. So he did finish with a ring.
His finals stats were 53-43-1 as a starter with 124 TD’s and 87 INT’s. with 23,301 yards.
Vinny Testaverde would finish his career with
90-123-1 as a starter with 46,233 yards, 275 TD’s and 267 INT’s
Vinny finished with 37 more wins then Kosar, 151 more TD passes then Kosar and 22,932 yards.
Clearly, Bill made the right choice. Don’t believe me? Go ahead and argue with the coach who has now won 6 Superbowls, and 400 total wins.
