A Fond Look Back At The Orange & Blue Era Of The Cleveland Cavaliers

Ron Harper went on to have a stellar career.  After suffering some injuries with the Clippers, he found his way to the Chicago Bulls and never looked back.  He won three championships while playing with the Bulls and won two more playing with the Lakers before retiring in 2001.  The Danny Ferry trade never quite panned out for Wayne Embry and the Cavs.  However, Danny Ferry went on to become the general manager of the Cavaliers a few years after his playing days came to an end in 2003.

With players such as Nance and Ehlo, it was easy to see why the team had such great chemistry.  They won and lost as a team without having one player get too much credit or blame.  It was an organization that excelled on a teamwork philosophy that few teams follow in today’s NBA. Larry Nance portrays his time playing for the Cleveland Cavs and the love and support of the Cleveland fans, “I appreciated the fans when they cheered for us and still do now.  They tell me how they loved our team because of how hard we played.  I want the fans to know that when they see me they are always welcome to come up and say hello.  I will always stop for an autograph and shake a hand.  I really appreciate our fans because we have the best fans in the world!  I just want to say thank you!”

Craig Ehlo also shares this love of Cleveland fans when he says, “I have a picture that hangs in my sports room that has Ozzie Newsome, Joe Carter and I and we are all wearing each other’s uniforms.  I see that picture every day and it just reminds of those seven years I was in Cleveland.  The fans accepted you for who you were and patted you on the back when you did good and picked you up when you were down.  They wore their hearts on their sleeves and supported us no matter what.  That is the biggest thing I can say to them, the camaraderie that we had with our team had a lot to do with those 20,000 people at the Richfield Coliseum every night.  They supported you no matter what and I have never come back to Cleveland where anyone said anything negative to me.  Every time I go back, fans tell me that had a wonderful time watching our group play.  I just want to thank them for supporting us for all those years.  Even though we never won a championship, they loved us through and through.”
