by All signs point to next weekend’s WrestleMania being the worst Wrestling show in Pay Per View History. It looks horrendous with no crowd and fans are screaming at the WWE to postpone the show.
Time will tell if it will be the worst of all time. For it to take that spot, it will need to somehow, someway be worse then WCW Uncensored 1995. Let’s take a look at what made it that bad.
In 1995 the WWF was under major financial strains, and needed to increase revenue as soon as possible. In an effort to do so, they created 7 new Pay Per View Events called “In Your House”. WCW as they often did back then, tried to copy the formula of the WWE and started adding some PPV’s of their own, it was with that the world was exposed to the tragedy known as WCW Uncensored.
At this point, the WCW did have 8 PPV’s that the fans seemingly took to, so this was latest wasn’t needed, but they went for the quick cash anyway. At that time they had Starrcade, SuperBrawl, Halloween Havoc, The Great American Bash, Bash at the Beach, Spring Stampede, Fall Brawl and Slamboree. With Starrcade being their form of WrestleMania.
It would be too painful to try and break down every match so we will give you some of the most cringe worthy moments.
Bobby the Brain Heenan screaming the entire night, “it’s uncensored” was easily the legends worst night in the business.
Dustin Rhodes and Smash from Demolition had a street fight in the back of a semi trucks flatbed. Making matters worse, it was going 55 mph down the backroads of Tupelo Mississippi.
Easily the worst match in WCW history, and that is saying something!
Ric Flair thought it would be smart to dress up in drag and attack the Macho Man.
Bobby the Brain Heenan continuing to tell everyone watching that Uncensored would receive more headlines then Mike Tyson being released from prison and also Michael Jordan returning to the NBA. Again, a rough night for the Brain.
Johnny B Badd (Wildman Marc Mero) did battle with Arn Arnderson is a boxer versus wrestler match, and yes, it was every bit as bad as it sounded.
Haku (Meng) defeated Hacksaw Jim Duggan in a Martial Arts match. WCW used a guy in Duggan who couldn’t perform a single wrestling hold and put him up against Meng in a match no one wanted to see.
Meng was Haku, no one was buying or caring about Meng despite the WCW making him seem like the next Undertaker.
In a match that was actually pretty darn good, The Nasty Boys defeated WCW tag Champs the Harlem Heat by pinfall that the camera didn’t catch because it didn’t happen.
They just decided to end the match and name the Nasties the winner. It was touted as a Texas Tornado match which saw falls count everywhere.
Sadly, no fall ever occurred as the majority of the match was spent at the snack stand as men belted each other with cotton candy and popcorn.
Just when it seemed things couldn’t possibly get worse, it was now time for the main event of the evening. Only one small problem, the man WCW had billed up to be the Ultimate Warrior, turned out to be some major reject named “The Renegade”.
Handpicked by Hogan, knowing that he would flop and not even come close to the threat the Warrior had been to Hogan years prior.
The Renegade was supposed to be watching Hogan’s back as he defended his belt against Vader in a Texas strap match. Ironically enough, Renegade wasn’t even needed as it was Ric Flair who would get dragged around the ring as Hogan touched all four corners for the win. Effectively ending the worst show in Pro Wrestling history the only way they could. With pure crap!
