We missed the Kardashians, but the Kardashians have never really left us. They have been on our screens for more than 20 years, and it seems we cannot escape them. However, what we are missing is the authenticity the Kardashians provided during their early debut on our screens in the early 2000s with their show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, on the E! network.
It is safe to say that the Kardashians became THE American family because of the crazy dynamic they shared. They were a family so in touch with reality that they could showcase sisters fighting and hitting each other with purses, a brother, Rob Kardashian, who was somewhat removed from the drama and only got involved when absolutely necessary, a mother who was willing to turn chaos into millions, a stepdad who loved golf, and younger sisters who kept the chaos alive.
That’s what made us love the Kardashians, and made the world keep up for 20 years. However, with the new adaptation of the Kardashian lifestyle and inside look into their crazy lives through a similar show produced by Hulu called Kardashians, seems to be losing the “connection” with the KarJenner clan.
Only being able to see a glimpse into their personal lives has definitely changed the way viewers experience the content they receive from the family. Leaving social media users wondering where that connection went or whether it was only possible because of the network providing the content for viewers.
Seeing Kim Kardashian book events and take any opportunity to get her name out there to become marketable, She became one of the first major influencers, and has now evolved into a billionaire with multiple successful companies and a brand identity completely separate for the family.
Watching sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloé work at their clothing store, Dash, and eventually create billion-dollar companies has been a great journey. However, it seems we now know less about the sisters themselves and more about their marketability and the capital margins that come with owning companies, rather than gaining insight into the daily workflow and what a typical day in the lives of the KarJenners looks like.
Viewers miss the interactive segments that kept Keeping Up with the Kardashians alive. Like pranking Kris multiple times in an episode or seeing Lord Disick bring everyone back to reality when ideas became too far fetched.
Since the Kardashian-Jenners have grown into major success stories, and “keep a bag” it has now been revealed that Kim Kardashian is the executive producer on a new reality show on Amazon Prime, Team Moms: Baseball.
The show follows families of aspiring MLB baseball players and explores how young athletes balance school, work and the pursuit of a professional career with the help and support of family and friends. It also includes a little drama, which always keeps a good reality show rooted in its true form of gossip and entertainment.
The realistic aspect of the show makes Team Moms: Baseball stand out. From the hand prints on the refrigerator to the kids’ snarky comments about the moms arguing, the show offers great insight into what sports can look like on any level.
The show almost portrays the same dynamic found in other reality shows featuring parents watching their talented children soar. Whether you are watching Dance Moms, Bring It! or Toddlers & Tiaras, you see stage moms, momagers and dadagers who want the best for their children, and are willing to do almost anything to grasp at the straws of success.
Ultimately, it ties together competition, reality, gossip and drama into one show. Having shows like this creates a sense of realness that is depleting from reality TV spaces, a feeling that was once fulfilled by Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Although fans still reference and love the original Kardashian television show, it is no secret that the Kardashians are not leaving our lives anytime soon. With the abundance of new characters like North, True, Dream and Rocky the KarJenners have an entirely new generation to entertain.
North West is making music and presenting herself as an artist, while Chicago is following in her mother’s footsteps and growing into her own, as a beauty and makeup influencer. There are so many different avenues in which the Kardashian-Jenner clan is flourishing.
We just hope we continue getting the sense of reality and realism that made audiences and social media fall in love with the family in the first place because the Kardashians are the American family.
