by The Brunswick Blue Devils went on the road to take on the Lorain Titans in what was a homecoming for their head coach James Boyeas. Boyeas, who left the Titans for the Blue Devils after last season, got the win over his former team by a score of 53-19.
The Titans started off strong with a long first drive that was capped off by Leonard McCall finding Tyler Chapman for a 13-yard touchdown. It did not take long for the Blue Devils to respond. Luke Tomasiunas first ripped off a 37-yard run into the red zone, then connected with Maxx Eicher for a 7-yard touchdown. The Blue Devils went for 2 but did not convert, making the score 7-6.
After a Blue Devils fumble, the Titans made it 13-6 when backup QB Josiah LaBoy found Ja’Von Jackson for a 20-yard touchdown. The Titans extra point was no good. Brunswick was rotating between Tamosiumas and Connor Jamison early on at quarterback. Jamison began getting most of the reps in the second quarter and the offense took off from there.
Brunswick tied the game at 13 with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Jamison to Anthony Gamboa. Brunswick then went with a surprise onside kick and recovered it to keep possession. A few plays later, Jamison went deep to Adin Evert for a 34-yard score to make it 20-13. Just before halftime, Brunswick extended their lead to 27-13 with a 15-yard touchdown from Jamison to Eicher.
Lorain’s first drive of the second half ended with their punt being blocked by Brunswick. That set up another touchdown pass from Jamison to Gamboa. The duo was not done yet, as they connected a 3rd time on a 25-yard score that extended the lead to 41-13. Late in the third quarter, Gamboa’s dominance continued. This time it was on the ground, as he scored his 1st rushing touchdown and 4th overall of the night.
The Titans finally got back in the end zone with a 4-yard catch by Amari Neal. The deficit was cut to 47-19. In the final minute, the Blue Devils added on when Luke Tamosiunas ran it in from 6-yards out. The Blue Devils improved to 4-2 and will travel to take on the Euclid Panthers next week. The Titans fall to 1-5 and will look to rebound next week against the Shaker Heights Raiders.
