by The Bay High Rockets defeat the Normandy Invaders 49-0 to get their first win of the season. Normandy’s opening drive got off to a shaky start with a 1st play sack, but the Invaders quickly found their rhythm. Facing a third-and-long situation, QB Jakob Muniak connected with tight end Brody Tusai for a 31-yard gain to keep the drive alive. Back-to-back penalties against Bay High then helped push Normandy deep into Rockets territory. Muniak continued the momentum with a 25-yard completion to wide receiver Nick Williams, moving the Invaders into the red zone. A holding penalty briefly stalled the drive and pushed Normandy back ten yards, but a subsequent facemask penalty gave the Invaders 15 yards back and set them up near the goal line. Despite the field position, Normandy was unable to capitalize with a touchdown and settled for a short field goal, however the kick was just short and the score remained at 0-0.
Bay High wasted little time making an impact on their opening possession. The Rockets struck quickly when running back Jack McManamon turned a short pass into a 58-yard catch-and-run, moving Bay deep into Normandy territory. A few plays later, quarterback Patrick Clearly connected with wide receiver Ethan Sedivec for a 22-yard touchdown pass, capping off the explosive drive. The score gave the Rockets an early 7-0 advantage and immediately swung the momentum in Bay High’s favor.
Normandy’s offense was unable to generate much on its next possession and was forced to punt the ball back to Bay High. The Rockets needed just one play to find the end zone. Patrick Clearly connected with wide receiver Lute Harmon III on an 80-yard touchdown strike, turning the possession into an explosive scoring drive. The big-play touchdown extended Bay High’s lead to 14-0 and gave the Rockets firm control of the game heading into the end of the first quarter.
After relying on several short runs and completions, Normandy worked its way into Bay High territory and eventually threatened deep in the red zone. However, the drive stalled when the Invaders faced a fourth-and-six situation and were unable to convert on a pass attempt, resulting in a turnover on downs. Bay High quickly looked to capitalize .Patrick Clearly connected with Jack McManamon on a 25-yard catch-and-run before finding Ethan Sedivec for a 39-yard gain, rapidly moving the Rockets deep into Normandy territory. Despite the explosive plays, Bay High was unable to finish the drive with points. The Rockets attempted a field goal, but the kick hit off the post, keeping the score at 14-0.
Normandy once again struggled to find its footing on the ensuing possession and was forced to punt the ball back to Bay High. The Rockets wasted little time capitalizing. Clearly connected with Jack McManamon, who turned the reception into a 66-yard catch-and-run touchdown. The explosive play further showcased Bay High’s big-play ability and extended the Rockets’ lead to 21-0 with just over four minutes remaining before halftime.
Looking to build some momentum, Normandy was unable to capitalize on its next possession and was forced to punt the ball back to the Rockets with just over two minutes remaining in the first half. On Bay’s ensuing drive, a personal foul penalty against Normandy moved the Rockets into Invaders territory. With less than 50 seconds left before halftime, Clearly launched a deep ball to Lute Harmon III, who hauled it in for a 56-yard touchdown, extending Bay’s lead to 28-0. The score marked Harmon III’s second touchdown and Clearly’s fourth touchdown pass of the half.
Receiving the opening kickoff of the second half, the Rockets wasted little time adding to their lead. A personal foul and a facemask penalty against Normandy moved Bay High deep into Invaders territory and set the Rockets up inside the five-yard line. A few plays later, Clearly connected with Ethan Sedivec on a 5-yard touchdown pass to extend Bay’s lead to 35-0. With the Rockets now leading by more than 30 points, the game shifted to a running clock for the remainder of the contest.
Following the touchdown, Normandy responded with an excellent kickoff return that gave the Invaders good field position at Bay High’s 45-yard line. The Invaders methodically moved the ball down the field and into the red zone, appearing poised to get on the scoreboard. However, Bay’s defense came up with a big play when Muniak’s pass was intercepted by Ethan Sedivec, ending the scoring threat and preserving the Rockets’ 35-0 lead. Bay once again leaned on its aerial attack to march into Invaders territory and find the end zone. After driving down the field, Patrick Clearly connected with wide receiver Ben Rickson for an 18-yard touchdown, extending the Rockets’ lead to 42-0. The touchdown was Clearly’s sixth touchdown pass of the night, capping another efficient scoring drive and further showcasing Bay’s dominance through the air. With just about 2 minutes left, it was now QB Ben Schrock who threw a touchdown pass to WR Ryan Connors to extend Bay High’s lead to 49-0 and that’s all she wrote.
