by The Middies had the first efficient drive of the game with all runs as the passing game could not get going the way it did last week. Newton, Wright and Senior Owen Underwood gave the Middies defense time to breathe but would go nowhere after a fourth down stop on a deep incomplete pass.
After that, Elyria Catholic stalled out on short runs and incomplete passes to punt, and Midview took the punt into great field position. After a few short runs to nowhere, Newton found sophomore tight end Noah Rivera for a 36-yard touchdown strike to give a lead of 7-0.
Later on, Newton would scramble on a fourth down and run in for an 11-yard Touchdown run to make the lead 14-0
The Panthers would make quick timing from Duvay as he would make multiple 10+ yard gains to his receivers. This would lead to a 10-yard touchdown pass to Shumpert in the back of the endzone to cut the deficit to 14-7 into the half for the Midview lead.
For the start of the second half, EC offense would leave off where it started and drain the clock from good runs from Shumpert and a big catch for juniors Juelz Martin and Jazear Taylor. A big Duvay scamper would lead him to find Senior Jacob Uhnak for a 9-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 14.
Then in the fourth, Midview’s Blake Butts recovered an EC handoff that was fumbled and give the Middies life in the Panther’s territory. Good steady runs from Wright and Newton for first downs would set the offense up in the red zone. After an EC pass interference penalty, Newton would connect with Rivera for the second time on the night. This time, it would be an 11-yard strike to give the Middies the 21-14 lead.
After the Panthers got the ball back, Martin and Duvay would help the offense get into a rhythm to give the offense something to work with. On fourth down, Midview Senior Peyton Ansel would intercept a Duvay pass and return it to the endzone for the clinching touchdown for the Middies to make the score 28-14.
The Middies defense stalled out the Panthers offense on their final possession to seal a big victory.
The Middies will take their undefeated 3-0 start up the road to Avon Lake to start conference play. Elyria Catholic will play their first road game of the year as they are still in non-conference play. The Panthers will head out to Vermilion next Friday.

Midview: Noah Rivera- Two catches for 48 yards and two touchdowns and an interception on defense. He also created pressure on EC quarterback Robbie Duvay to force the game sealing pick six.
Elyria Catholic: Donovan Shumpert- 48 yards rushing and two catches for 23 yards and a touchdown. When on offense, he helped create plays for others as his motion made many opportunities for his teammates to create big plays. Also, he was all over the place on defense, flying to the ball and causing a pain in the Middies offense.
