At Green High schools home field, the teams came to play hard in the mild and cool evening. In the first quarter, two touchdowns were completed, with the first touchdown being scored in the first minute and thirty-five seconds by senior quarterback Chase Herbert. Additionally, he ran 40 yards in this half completing the touchdown. Herbert’s second completion followed when he passed the ball 40 yards to senior wide receiver and defensive back Reed Liberatore as he waited patiently in the end zone for the pass.
In the second quarter Green High school continued, completing another quick touchdown, but that did not stop North Olmsted’s fight. With heavy defense, downs continued to be called due to strong defense from Junior defender and running back Ameer Silmi, defending at an increasing 40 yards on the field. A long stand still of punts and interceptions kept the clock running. With 6 minutes left in the quarter, North Olmsted completed their first touchdown, with a completed field goal to add seven points to their team’s score. Following this, with only 26 seconds left on the clock, Herbert completed his third touchdown of the night quickly doing so with low proximity to the end zone, from the 10-yard line mark.
Continuing the game, after marvelous performances done by both schools marching bands during the half time, the game continued strong. Stagnant time in this quarter was performed and strategically played by both teams on the field. Senior quarterback Will McPherson ran 40 yards with completed tackles on Green’s Herbert. As defense continued to hold in this quarter, the total for this almost became a zero-zero touchdown. That is until Green’s junior Liberatore completed his second touchdown, running 20 yards and followed by a completed field goal from senior Logan Noirot.
With the amazing offense and defense provided by the teams of the night, the final quarter is where things began to tighten up and become very close calls. Many completed tackles occurred during this quarter of the game. Midway through the quarter, Green lost the ball to North Olmsted as they quickly attempted a touchdown from 50 yards. They were incomplete as they were tackled by a one of Green’s players. Running the clock close with several downs and interceptions, fans watched as both teams quickly made it from one side of the 10-yard marker to the other. While the ball was in Green’s favor at the right side of the field. They failed to complete a touchdown as North Olmsted continuously intercepted the ball from them and ran close to the end zone on the other side of the field. Once they had the ball in their favor, North Olmsted swiftly completed a touchdown from the 10-yard marker from senior left and fullback, Lucas Lastafka. Lastafka’s touchdown mimicked the quickness of Green’s first touchdown in the beginning of the game with one minute and forty-three seconds left on the clock.
The game concluded with the final score 42-14.
