North Olmsted defeated Westlake 1-0 after a strong defensive performance and 17 saves by goalkeeper Bridgid Grabowski
The Eagles scored early, finding the back of the net on their first shot at the 32:01 mark of the opening half. North Olmsted’s No. 7 Amaya Capps put the Eagles up 1-0.
Westlake controlled much of the tempo throughout the opening half and created several scoring opportunities. The Demons recorded 12 shots in the first half, but Grabowski made six saves to keep them off the scoreboard. North Olmsted entered halftime holding onto its one-goal lead.
Westlake continued to apply pressure during the second half. The Demons had back-to-back shots hit the crossbar and struck it again with approximately 5:30 remaining in the game. Despite the close opportunities, they could not find the back of the net.
Westlake finished the game with 26 shots, compared with 2 on frame from North Olmsted. Grabowski recorded 17 saves.
The game also included several fouls. Westlake committed 12 fouls and received two yellow cards late in the second half, while North Olmsted committed two fouls.
North Olmsted’s defense remained composed through Westlake’s late push and protected the early lead to secure the 1-0 victory.
