The Decision Pt. 3

LeBron James’ future home has been on the minds of many who are looking forward to the upcoming NBA season.  One of the biggest questions about free agency remains, where will LeBron James land? This question comes after LeBron announced his departure from LA, where he won a title and NBA finals MVP during the 8-year journey as a laker. James is once again looking to find a new home. At age 41 on the free agent market, James will be looking for a roster who is ready to win now.

The first team that came to mind for Lebron and most people was easily the Cleveland Cavaliers. This would be James’s 3rd return to Cleveland, and it there may not be a better time than now. The Cavaliers had an impressive season making it to the Eastern Conference for the first time without LeBron, but it seemed in that series they may have needed him. The Cavaliers had issues moving the ball effectively against the Knicks as they averaged 18.5 turnovers and lost each game by double digits. James would also work his playmaking into Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley’s game, which would effectively heighten their potentials, and also give Donavan Mitchell a much-needed break on offense.

The next team LeBron may consider is his infamous rival the Golden State Warriors. LeBron James and the Golden State Warriors have a story booked history with LeBron meeting them 4 consecutive times in the NBA finals and completing the 3-1 comeback in 2016. Even if he may be the most disliked man in the bay area, even they cannot deny they want to see LeBron James play with Steph Curry. The Warriors had a disappointing season this past year missing the NBA playoffs after star players Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler both went down with season altering injuries. James was asked in an interview in 2022 for his show “The Shop”, who in modern NBA would he like to play with most and he said, “Steph Curry is the one I want to play with in today’s game, for sure”. This makes combining one of the game’s greatest playmakers ever in LeBron James with the best shooter the NBA has ever seen in Steph Curry, an even more enticing deal.

The final team that LeBron James may suit up for is the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers had their season ended after losing in the 2nd round exactly like the Cavs did a round later by being swept by the Knicks. Since losing, the 76ers have wasted no time in free agency trading for superstar and former NBA finals MVP Jaylen Brown. Philly’s roster is already loaded with a young stars like Tyrese Maxey, V.J Edgecomb, and most importantly former MVP Joel Embiid. This roster makes them all the more enticing to LeBron as the 76ers would likely give him the most room to play however he wants to at age 41, making them the team most suitable for a championship run.
