Elite 2027 Running Back David Gabriel-Georges Nearing College Decision

Five-star 2027 running back David Gabriel-Georges is set to announce his college commitment on July 22, choosing between Ohio State, Tennessee and Ole Miss.

Gabriel-Georges is ranked as the consensus No. 9 overall prospect and No. 2 running back in the 2027 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He is also the consensus No. 1 prospect in the state of Tennessee. The 6-foot, 205-pound standout from Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is widely regarded as one of the top offensive prospects in the 2027 recruiting class.

Originally from Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada, Gabriel-Georges has become one of the biggest storylines in the 2027 recruiting class. According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, Gabriel-Georges’ NIL valuation sits at $1.1 million, though many recruiting insiders believe his eventual compensation package could approach $2 million annually, potentially making him one of the highest-paid high school recruits in college football history.

Ohio State and Tennessee have been the two programs most closely tied to Gabriel-Georges throughout his recruitment, while Ole Miss emerged as a legitimate contender later in the process. Although many recruiting insiders view the race as a battle between the Buckeyes and Volunteers, Ole Miss remains a dark horse entering the final stretch.

Running backs coach Carlos Locklyn has led Ohio State’s pursuit of Gabriel-Georges for more than 18 months, building what has been widely reported as a strong relationship with the five-star running back. That connection helped the Buckeyes gain momentum during the summer, earning three Crystal Ball predictions from national recruiting analysts in June. Since then, however, Tennessee has mounted a strong push of its own, leaving little consensus among recruiting insiders about where Gabriel-Georges will ultimately land. The five-star has maintained that he remains undecided and plans to make his final decision July 22.

Much of Gabriel-Georges’ rise to five-star status came during a dominant 2025 season in which he rushed for 1,756 yards and 27 touchdowns while averaging nearly 11 yards per carry. He led Baylor School to a perfect 12-0 record and the TSSAA Division II-AA state championship, securing the program’s first undefeated season in 52 years.

His standout junior campaign earned him MaxPreps National Player of the Year honors and Tennessee Titans Division II-AA Mr. Football recognition.

Gabriel-Georges’ production is just one reason he has become one of the most coveted prospects in the 2027 class. He has been timed at 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash and can bench press 375 pounds.

Those traits have helped fuel the national attention surrounding Gabriel-Georges’ recruitment, which has drawn comparisons to former Texas star Bijan Robinson. On the field, his powerful running style and tackle-breaking ability have also drawn comparisons to former Ole Miss and Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins.

Wherever Gabriel-Georges ends up, he will bring the type of talent and physicality that can make an immediate impact in college and could go down as one of the biggest recruiting wins in recent memory.
