PITTSBURGH, PA – What a great night for former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold as he looked incredibly impressive second round knockout over David Branch. Rockhold was still stinging from losing his belt to Michael Bisping back in June 2016 as he was unable to make a single successful title defense. He then had a 15-month layoff before tonight’s win.
Also shining on the main card was the thunderous hands of Mike Diamond Perry as he only needed 1:19 to knock Alex Reyes out cold. He wasn’t the only one to score a first round knockout Kamura Usman knocked out Sergio Moraes. Usman is now 11-1 and 6-0 in the UFC. He will be a UFC Welterweight Champion one day.
Gregor Gillespie secured a arm triangle choke submission win over Jason Gonzalez in 2:11 of the second round. Gillespie improved to 10-0 overall and 3-0 in the UFC. Capping off the main card fast finishes was Anthony Smith with a KO of Hector Lombard at 2:33 of the third round. Smith is now 29-12 but still a bit too big for middleweight, I would fully expect a bump up to either Light Heavy or Heavyweight very soon.
It was a night of KO’s as the undercard saw Gilbert Burns, Uriah Hall and Daniel Spitz securing them as well.
