TNA Recap and Reaction as Historic Slater Title Reign Comes to an End

A heavily hyped episode of TNA Impact from Sacramento went off last night to mixed results.  Let’s take a look at the action with some quick recap and reactions.

The show kicked off with a Battle Royal to decide the number one contender for TNA World Champion Mike Santana’s title.

Result – Eric Young

Recap – Mustafa Saed of the old Gangster’s from Smokey Mountain Wrestling and ECW arrived out of nowhere, that was fun.  Took me back to Junior High one more time.  The Battle Eric Young seems like an odd pick, but at this time it appears that each month is a new reason and opponent to continue building Santana.  No one is going to take Young as a serious threat and this will keep Santana looking strong until Nemeth eventually cashes in on Santana and sends him back to AEW.

Lei Ying thanks the fans for her win last week from Arianna Grace to capture her second TNA Women’s World Championship.  She is eventually interrupted by Xia Brookside and they challenge each other to an eventual match.

Reaction – Earlier in the promo, Ying is apologizing to the fans that she doesn’t speak English well.  Less then a minute later, she is calling Brookside a bitch.  Well, atleast she knows the cuss words.  This entire feud has been awful.

KC Navarro vs. AJ Francis – Sactown Street Fight

Result – AJ Francis

Recap – What is the difference between a Sactown streetfight and any other city?  I have no idea but it was packed with action and fun to watch anyways. Francis took a ton of punishment but managed to win, in what I would call a minor upset.

Daria “Sonya Deville” arrives and announces that Steve Maclin and TNA World Champion Mike Santana will face off for the title.

Reaction – Um, ok, that was out of nowhere but I expect them to have the match they were supposed to have a few months back before the injury.

The TNA injury report had the following names on it.

  • Trey Miguel is out of Action indefinitely.
  • Moose after being attacked last week is out of action with a head and hip injury.
  • EC3 is out of action after receiving a Piledriver from Eric Young through a table.
  • KC Navarro is out of action after his Sactown Street Fight earlier this evening.

Mila Moore and Victoria Crawford acc. by Tessa Blanchard vs. Rosemary and Allie acc. by Mara Sadé – Tag Team Match

Result – Rosemary and Allie acc. by Mara Sadé Def. Mila Moore and Victoria Crawford acc. by Tessa Blanchard – Tag Team Match

Recap – A fun little match getting the TNA Knockouts tag division some work along the way. Seeing Allie in the ring is always fun and never expected, so that in itself made it enjoyable.

TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater vs. Cedric Alexander –  2-out-of-3 Falls Match -TNA X-Division Championship

Result – Cedric Alexander Def. TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater – 2-out-of-3 Falls Match – TNA X-Division Championship

Reaction – A truly epic match to close out a solid show.  Shocked they didn’t allow Leon Slater to break the record for the longest X Division reign ever but TNA creative seems deadest on making “The System” work.  I still cannot take them serious, two WWE castoffs and two guys no one cares about.  Eddie Edwards isn’t exactly lighting the world on fire an truly never has.  Alas, a great title run by Slater, is over.
