NORTH OLMSTED, OH – The Berea-Midpark Titans were back for another conference tennis matchup, this time taking on the North Olmsted Eagles. The Titans were able to grab a point in singles play, but North Olmsted’s depth across the lineup ended up being the difference as the Eagles picked up the 4-1 team win.
The first match to finish was third singles, where Dino Agelidakis faced Caleb Gilchrist. North Olmsted came out aggressive early and stayed in control throughout the match, earning a 6-0, 6-0 win to give the Eagles the opening point of the match.
Not long after that, the first singles wrapped up with Hank Luk taking on Nathan Nagy. North Olmsted once again controlled the pace and kept pressure on from the start, winning 6-1, 6-0, extending the lead to 2-0.
Second doubles was the next match to end, featuring Joyce Richards and Elliot Barbeck against Charlie Valiando and Sam Ray. North Olmsted played great from the beginning and didn’t allow much from the Titans, winning 6-1, 6-1, to officially clinch the team win.
Berea-Midpark was able to respond in second singles thanks to a strong performance from Lexi Hall. Going up against Michael Macke, Hall stayed composed during long rallies and played the Titans’ best match of the day. She picked up the Titans’ only team point, with the 6-4, 6-2 win.
The final match to finish came in first doubles, where Elias Koenig and Daler Rustamov took on Anthony Cujba and Omar Nasreldin. After dropping the first set 6-1, North Olmsted responded by taking the second game 6-1 before closing things out with a 6-4 win in the deciding third set.
Even with the overall result already decided by the end of second doubles, both teams continued to compete hard. Berea-Midpark showed a lot of fight by forcing a third set and kept things close late, but North Olmsted was able to come through in bigger moments to finish off the win.
Overall, this felt like a match where North Olmsted was able to stay a little more consistent across the lineup. The Titans had moments where they put together good stretches, especially in second singles and parts of first doubles, but it was tough to maintain momentum for long periods against an Eagles team that didn’t make many mistakes.
