What to Watch Tonight as the Guardians Open the Season in Seattle

As the Cleveland Guardians open their 2026 season on the road against the Seattle Mariners, fans have a lot to be excited about heading into Opening Day. With a fresh lineup, a mix of both young and established talent, and a strong presence on the mound, Cleveland will look to start the season on the right note at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.

Leading off tonight for the Guardians is Steven Kwan, who continues to be one of the most reliable contact hitters in the lineup and the entire league. Kwan is the perfect player to lead off because he sets the tone offensively and has a big shot at sparking early momentum. Batting second, and one many fans are excited to see play, is Chase DeLauter. People around the league should keep an eye on him because he has the potential to be one of the best batters out there.

In the heart of the lineup, all eyes will be on José Ramírez, who remains the cornerstone of the Guardians. He can hit for both power and average, making him one of the most dangerous hitters in the league. Having his presence in the third spot provides stability for Cleveland’s office. Surrounding him are key contributors like Kyle Manzardo and Bo Naylor. Both players can make a significant impact tonight. Towards the end of last season, Naylor was the best-hitting catcher in the entire league, meaning he has a lot of momentum carrying over to the start of this season.

Veteran Rhys Hoskins is another player fans are pumped to watch tonight. Hoskins can produce runs in multiple ways, meaning the Guardians have a strong middle part of the lineup tonight. The bottom half of the lineup includes Daniel Schneemann, Gabriel Arias, and Brayan Rocchio. Those three players will be crucial in providing depth and turning the lineup over effectively.

On the mound, the Guardians will turn to Tanner Bibee, who enters the season with high expectations. Bibee has shown flashes of excellence and will be counted on to set the tone for Cleveland’s pitching staff. His matchup against Seattle’s Logan Gilbert presents an early-season test, as both pitchers look to establish rhythm and command.

For Guardians fans, one of the biggest things to watch is how this lineup comes together early in the season. Opening Day often brings a mix of excitement and unpredictability. Additionally, defensive execution and pitching efficiency will play a major role in determining the outcome against a really strong Mariners team.

Ultimately, Opening Day is about setting the tone for the long season ahead. A strong performance in Seattle could provide the Guardians with early momentum and confidence as they begin their 2026 season. Fans should expect a competitive matchup, with both teams eager to start the season with a win.
