The first quarter started off full of electricity. Both the Bees, and the Gators showed up in tremendous ways. The defense of the Gators had good plays throughout the first half. Making sure to get the rebounds, and really attacking the ball. Towards the end of the first period, the Bees fought back. Maya Woods, senior on the Bees, had an incredible game scoring her first two points of the night at the end of the first quarter. The first quarter ended 15-17 with Laurel leading the game.
At the start of the second quarter, the Gators scored nine points in a row. Seven of those points were scored by senior Tristan Williams. Williams managed to score 19 points total throughout the game, taking advantage of possessions and showing up for the team. Another notable player on the Gators throughout this game was junior Reese Grammes. The Gators defensive charge was primarily led by Grammes. Grammes managed to score 9 points total.
Before the end of the first half, the Bees tried to level out the score. Woods scored seven more points. She had a total of 25 points in total, and was one of the key factors in the Bees victory. Even with such tremendous game play, at halftime, the Gators were still leading 30-27.
The second half started with an even playing field as star senior for the Bees, Maya Woods scored yet again with another three-pointer making it a tie game. Josalyn Hackney, junior on the Bees, helped out and scored two of her total eight points. Laurel quickly responded as senior Liv Schneider got the rebound, and scored three points. Schneider scored 12 points total in the game.
The plays got more intense as the third quarter continued on into the fourth. With such a close game, every basket counted. The Bees had their first lead of the game with 46-43. Maycie Schreiber, sophomore on the Bees, took control of the ball scoring two points to start off the quarter. Schreiber scored seven points in total.
The Bees remained consistent throughout the last quarter, and continued to stay in the lead until the very end of the game. The Gators put up a good fight, but in the end, the Bees were able to snag the win by one point.
Other notable goal scorers of the game include freshman Preslee Doubler, and junior Ashley Perdion of the Bees. For the Gators, junior Jordyn Meyer, and sophomore Kemy Cistone.
