Avon Lake Defeats Berea-Midpark in SWC Super Clash

Tonight in girls basketball, the Avon Lake Shoregal’s took down the Berea-Midpark Titans 58-49, sweeping their regular season set between the two. This win also clinches second place in the SWC for Avon Lake as both them Berea-Midpark finished with three SWC losses.

The Titans trailed closely to the Shoremen throughout the first half until the Shoregal’s scored a buzzer beater to fully lock their lead before half with a score of 28-23.

The Shoremen started with the ball in the third. They soon scored a quick 4 points on the Titans until the Titans responded with an easy two before both teams started to go back and forth again. With the Titans starting to get hot the Shoremen called a timeout in hopes to ice their offense which worked in their favor.  Further showing the great coaching prowess of one coach Paul Appel who had turned this program around over the last 4 seasons.  After the timeout they scored back to back 3s to keep the lead with a score of 44-33 entering the final quarter with the Lady Titans on the rope as Coach Paul Appels bunch looked to finish them off for the second time this season.

Opening the fourth, the Titans started to apply full court pressure hoping it would stop Avon Lake from winning the game. The Titans started to heat up in the start of the fourth but it wasn’t enough as Avon Lake ended up coming out on top at the end of the night with the end of the game being 58-49. Both teams played great tonight. The top scorers for the Titans were Regan Braaten, Emma Arnold, and Pressely Fathauer and the top scorers for the Shoregal’s were Riley Koury, Evelyn Ritt, and Molly Milligan.

  1. Vince,
Please prevent Aidan from writing any further articles for this site. KOS is great, well respected and we all love it, but every article this Aidan girl writes gets worse and worse. This reads as though this was written for a slow witted 3rd grader riding a short bus. Please, this sight is too good for this clown! – High School Parents Everywhere!
