ROCKY RIVER, OH – The Pirates kept up their winning ways with a big 77-44 convincing win over the visiting North Olmsted Eagles tonight at home. They created points off of countless turnovers and hitting 7 from deep and also only attempting 1 foul shot all game.
The Pirates were led in scoring by Brandon Nazette with 16 while Danny Berg had 14 and Jacob Radcliffe with 13. Rowan Kennedy scored 12 while Jeff Maslar scored 6 and Anthony Giordano finished with 4. The Eagles were led by Dominic Martin with 15 while Jake Perkins had 12 and Anthony D’Alessandro tallied 8.
A very competitive first four minutes saw the Pirates jump out to a 10-6 lead before the timeout. A Nazette three ball out of the break extended the lead to 13-6 and had the Pirates cooking before four straight from D’Allesandro and Kraft cut into the lead at 13-10. The rest of the quarter went back and forth from there as River finished it on top 17-12.
The Eagles came out firing to start the second quarter by scoring 6 straight points to take their first and only lead of the game at 18-17. Sadly, for the Eagles, the lead lasted merely seconds as Radcliffe hit a three on the ensuing Pirate possession which lit a fuse that was never put out the rest of the night. The Pirates finished the quarter on an insane 16-0 run to take a 33-18 lead into the break. Part of the run saw 6 straight points from Danny Berg.
The Pirates kept hot to start the second half, building their first 20 point lead of the game on another Radcliffe three. This was part of a huge run that eventually saw the Pirates extend the lead to 60-32 before the quarter ended. Brandon Nazette had a huge 8 minute stretch that saw him score 11 of his teams 27 third quarter points.
The Eagles began the fourth on a 7-0 blitz with buckets from Martin and Jake Perkins, but it was too little too late as the Pirates controlled the rest of the way, taking home the 74-44 victory.
The Eagles will look to bounce back this Friday as they travel to Normandy while the Pirates look to stay hot as they host Lakewood on Friday night.
