The crowd was absolutely electric as the show kicked off from Ireland and they went ballistic when a video of Finn Balor walking into the arena came across the screen.
Opening Segment
Gunther trashes the crowd and announces his entrance into the 2026 Royal Rumble which promptly brings out AJ Styles to challenge him to a rematch at the Rumble instead. Gunther says he is only giving Aj that match if he puts his career on the line, and Styles doesn’t answer right away.
Next Segment
The IC Title rematch as champion Becky Lynch defends against former champion Maxine Dupree with Natty Neidhardt in her corner.
As usual, yet another face to heel turn for Natayla as she costs Maxxine the match by placing Becky’s leg on the rope to avoid a pin. This is the same old song and dance as Natayla has told the same story for 10 years, she cannot be trusted and is always bitter. Rinse, recycle, repeat. Complete with post-match attack of Natayla on Dupree. No one seemed to care.
Backstage
A replay is shown of Adam Pierce and Bronn Breaker getting into last week, almost guaranteeing you a match between the two is coming. Meanwhile, Styles says he needs to call his wife begore he accepts the match with Gunther.
Another hype video is shown for the Main Event Clash in Belfast between Balor and Punk.
In the middle of the fans in the arena Jey Uso comes out by himself and declares himself for the Royal Rumble.
In the ring
Dragon Lee, Penta & Rey Mysterio defeat The Vision when Penta pins Austin Theory after Adam Pierce gets heavily involved. Theory has been underwhelming once again and it will only be a matter of time before he gets booted out the group and re-unites with Seth Rollins as the truth will come out that he was working for Rollins all along.
BACK FROM BREAK
Team Ryho comes out to a huge pop and announce that both Ripley and Iyo will be in the Rumble this year. This prompts Rozanne Perez and Liv Morgan to show up and make the same announcement. This leads to an eventual brawl between the four before Raquel Rodriguez comes out and helps the Judgement Day finish on top.
In the back
Bayley and Lyra Valkyrie have a hug fest in the back as they tell each other they are entering the Royal Rumble together. This will almost certainly lead to their eventual split that has been coming for months now.
BACK FROM BREAK AN MAJOR INJURY OCCURS
Injury in the ring stops the match as Je’Von Evans gets hurt during a commercial break which caused Jessika Car to stop the match and award it to his opponent Grande Americano. Michael Cole seemed extremely upset by this and it is believed to be a shoot, not a work.
TIME FOR THE MAIN EVENT
But right before CM Punk enters the ring, we cut to the back where AJ Styles informs Adam Pierce that he will put his career on the line at the Royal Rumble versus Gunther, the match is on.
Back to the ring where CM Punk gets a sizable pop from the crowd despite this being a road game for him. Balor arrives, looking normal, no Demon tonight for the hometown hero.
The match is excellent until CM Punk kicks out of The Coup Da Gra and hits Balor with the GTS for the win. A long handshake and hug between the two afterwards closes the show.
