Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees Defeat North Royalton Bears 36-13 in Incredible Defensive Performance

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees continued their strong season with a 36-13 victory over the North Royalton Bears. While both teams played amazing defense,  Ashley Perdion was also a big part of the Bees win, leading the team with 13 points.

The Bees defense came out swarming the Bears. They held the Bears scoreless for over 6 minutes to begin the game. Preslee Doubler’s 3-pointer got the Bees out to a 3-0 lead. The lead grew to 11-2 by the end of the first quarter, with the Bears only points coming at the free throw line.

Doubler began the second quarter with another 3 that put the Bees up 14-2. The Bears offense then came alive, cutting the deficit to 14-8. The Bees then closed the half strong with 5 straight points, 4 of them coming from Ashley Perdion. It was a 19-8 lead for the Bees going into halftime.

It continued to be a defensive slugfest in the second half. Both offenses were quiet in the third quarter, until Perdion scored 4 straight to make it a 25-12 game. The Bees dominated the rest of the way, holding the Bears to just 1 point in the final quarter. Led by Perdion and Josalyn Hackney, the Bees scored the games final 11 points.

Bees coach Joe Zenir said after the game that “we knew scoring would be a challenge today, but defense is about effort and our girls always give effort. When you hold a team to 5 points in the second half you’re probably gonna win the game”. The Bees improve to 10-2 on the season, while the Bears fall to 3-10.
