Cleveland Crunch Defeat Chicago 10-1 in Regular Season Wolstein Debut

CLEVELAND, OH – What a magical night in Cleveland as indoor soccer returned to the Wolstein Center for some red hot MLIS action.  Much like the Crunch teams of the 90’s, this squad came out and dominated from whistle to whistle, giving their opponents the Chicago Mustangs all night long as Cleveland rolled to a dominant 10-1 victory.  This win brings their regular season record to 3-0 as they have begin the year on a roll.

The Crunch were led in goals by Admir Suljevic and Ryan Minnick with two goals each, while Chris Cvecko, Brenden Swann, Omar Najjar, Tamas Nagy, Gabriel Pewu and man of the match Aidan Bozak finished with a goal each.  Bozak was man of the match largely due to this 3 total points as he assisted on the goals from Cvecko and Najjar.

The Crunch jumped out to an early lead with a goal from Ryan Minnick just a few minutes into the action to get the crowd going.  The scoring slowed drastically until the final moments of the first period when Cvecko and Minick combined to send the Crunch into the second quarter up 3-0.

Only a few moments into the second quarter, Chicago attempted to mount a comeback on a Dario Gamboa goal.  For Chicago, that would be the closest they would get however as the rest of the quarter and game was dominated by the Crush.  It took about 7 minutes, but eventual the Crunch broke through again with a goal from Brendan Swann before Admir Suljevic hit a penalty kick and then Najjar capped the first half scoring by sending the Crunch into the break up 6-1 in firm control.

The Crunch scored 2 each in the third and fourth quarters to turn the game into a laugher.    The Crunch will look to stay hot when they return home in two weeks on January 24th as they host Lansing.  This will come after they travel to Pittsburgh for a game on the 17th.
